On July 16, myMatrixx Chief Clinical Officer Phil Walls will speak to the Kansas Self Insurers Association’s (KSIA) Annual Conference. His presentation, “Medical Cannabis: Preparing for the Future,” will discuss the clinical indications for medical marijuana and its potential applications from a workers’ compensation perspective. The discussion of this increasingly prominent topic in health care will include a comprehensive look at both the biology and history of marijuana and cannabis.
Despite legalization of medical marijuana in many states, the FDA has not approved the substance for any indication. The presentation will cover current cannabinoid medications and hemp-derived supplements that have received some form of approval and the ongoing regulatory review for these substances. Walls will also share potential Kansas State Provisions for medical marijuana to help the KSIA audience navigate this emerging landscape.
