Drivers of Stimulant Use Among Injured Workers: A Population Based Analysis

2022 National Rx Drug Abuse & Heroin Summit – April 18 through 21, 2022 (Poster Hall)

Phil Walls, RPh, Chief Clinical Officer and Brian Williams, PharmD, Clinical Account Executive will attend the 2022 National Rx Drug Abuse & Heroin Summit and will review the pharmacology of stimulants, their intended use as well as associated risks, and also their impact on the duration of opioid use and the length of a workers’ compensation claim involving opioids.

In this Poster Hall presentation, learn how myMatrixx focuses exclusively on workers’ compensation and its corresponding need for injury state management for the care and recovery of injured workers. Our management has led to the development of a patented risk assessment algorithm to identify injured patients that may be in need of weaning from opioids and other addictive medication. Our dedicated clinical pharmacists have developed a telepharmacy program to educate prescribers in the proper use of these drugs.

Step one is to conduct an exhaustive clinical pharmacy review of all drugs that the injured patient is taking; each drug is evaluated via a risk analysis; for drugs where the risk outweighs the benefits a strategy for weaning or discontinuation is developed; and lastly we engage the prescriber via a teleconference to review and implement these recommendations.
