Fentanyl transdermal patches (Duragesic®) are often prescribed to injured workers to manage chronic pain. Although effective, this opioid is very potent–and very dangerous. In the 15 months since pop star Prince died from an accidental overdose, fentanyl has been in the news with increasing frequency because of an alarming number of fatal overdoses from accidental exposure and illegal use.
